What is groupage?
When units of products are transported in bundles to form a consolidated transport, for example, the combining of numerous smaller shipments into one whole container, it is known as groupage freight. Single pallets can be shipped using this approach. When shipping a big number of pallets, partial load shipping is usually the most cost-effective alternative.
Groupage freight is a widely utilised process in logistics due to its cost-effectiveness, as mixing various shipments provides the advantage of being highly cost-effective.
The Groupage Process
In the forwarding agent’s warehouse, general cargo is collected from numerous shippers and combined into a groupage cargo. They are divided again in the appropriate warehouses after delivery.
What is haulage?
The method of transporting products by road or rail is known as haulage. Essentially, it is the transportation of a container from one location to another. There are two types of haulage: carrier haulage and merchant haulage.
Carrier haulage refers to the transportation of a container by the buyer using a specific haulage contractor, whereas merchant haulage refers to the movement of a container by the buyer using a specific haulage contractor.
What is a haulage company?
Haulage companies specialise in transporting large, heavy goods directly from its original location to the destination rather than the couriers making several stops.
